The Nude Party Celebrate New Album’s Release on Thursday at Rough Trade NYC

July 02, 2018

Inspired by the likes of the Kinks, the Animals and the Velvet Underground, Patton Magee (vocals and guitar), Austin Brose (percussion and vocals), Connor Mikita (drums), Alec Castillo (bass and vocals), Shaun Couture (guitar and vocals) and Don Merrill (keys and vocals) formed the Nude Party six years ago while in college in the mountains of Boone, N.C. Before their EP, Hot Tub (stream it below), dropped in 2016, they’d already become known for their rambunctious live shows—and for performing sans clothes. And now the Nude Party (above, performing “Feelin’ Alright” for Sonny’s Porch) have a self-titled debut LP arriving this Friday. “The 11-track set was produced by the band’s mentor and friend, Oakley Munson of Black Lips, and demonstrates their raw and effortless synchronicity that developed from learning how to play their instruments together since their teens,” according to Glide Magazine. “An inseparable gang of blood brothers bonded by a musical mission indistinguishable from their friendship, the band have lived as one unit in house after house for six years, honing their sound and aesthetic.” The Nude Party celebrate their new album’s release one night early, on Thursday at Rough Trade NYC. The Muckers and Zzzwalk open the show.
