Purity Ring is the futuristic pop project of Corin Roddick and Megan James. Purity Ring makes lullabies for the club, drawing equally from airy 90s r&b, lush dream pop, and the powerful immediacy of the very best modern indie pop. Megan James’ remarkable voice is at once ecstatic and ethereal, soaring joyfully through Roddick’s carefully chopped beats, trembling synths, and past her perfect counterpoint – a ghostly pitched-down vocal which both underscores hooks and renders the entire musical backdrop beautifully alien.
The band erupted out of the gates in early 2011 with its first single “Ungirthed” b/w “Lofticries”, released on notable UK label Transparent, garnering praise from tastemakers such as Pitchfork (who awarded Best New Track to the A-side), the Guardian, and the FADER.

Evian Christ

or those unfamiliar with Evian Christ's work, he produces sparse, heavy bangers, splitting the difference between the stripped-down menace (and occasional four-on-the-floor creepy house beat) of Shackleton or Pinch and the dark, minimalist swagger of Keyboard Kid's 'Based' sound, with some decidedly mean rap vocals appearing at opportune times. The bass throughout is utterly massive, thick, round and subby as hell, with no cliched midrange wobble to it- your neighbors, I'm sure, will really appreciate you digging this mixtape.
Headaches
Toronto's Headaches, aka Landon Speers, is a prolific musician whose work is characterised by layered textures and evocations of the subconscious. Never settling on one genre but constantly experimenting with ambient, drone and IDM sounds, Landon's first release on NeuroPlastic is a warm, weird-pop, chopped-up electronic single.
